One 10K walk and two separate 5K walks have been created for your walking enjoyment by the Greater Des Moines Volkssport Association.
These walks are wheelchair and stroller accessible and can be done during daylight hours, 365 days a year. They are rated easy, mostly paved and level, and go through Simpson College campus, past the Warren County Courthouse, along city streets and the Summerset Trail.
Pick up a map for $2 at the Jiffy Xpress gas station at 311 North Jefferson Street (the corner of Hwy 65/69 and Clinton Ave.) The maps contain complete routes, as well as points of interest along the way.

Bicyclists can enjoy a two-mile, paved scenic bike loop, which runs alongside the park's roadways. The bike loop connects with the 12-mile Summerset bike trail. The park's bicycle loop connection is located at the midpoint of Summerset Trail which connects the communities of Carlisle and Indianola.

Banner Lakes provide fishing enthusiasts excellent fishing and boating opportunities. The south lake is central Iowa's only trout fishery, from October through May. Trout ranging from 1/2 pound to 10 pounds in size are stocked each year. Iowa residents and nonresidents must pay the trout fee to fish for or possess trout. Other species in both lakes include channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. A number of shoreline fishing opportunities are located on the south lake and both lakes have new single-lane boat ramps and associated parking. Motor regulations are any size motor at no wake speed.

10 acre woodland featuring a winding trail that climbs to the back of the park, crosses a long suspension bridge and then descends back to the trail head, affording the hiker a beautiful stroll through a lovely woodland park along with a picnic ground.
